Date: September 2016 No.1
I would like to welcome you all back after the summer holidays and hope that you have all had an enjoyable break with your children.
Our first topic for the term is based on the book Dear Zoo. We will be talking about animals and how to care for them. We are hoping to have different animals come into preschool for the children to meet including a rabbit, a chicken and a dog. As part of the topic we will be discussing pets, if your child has a pet then we are encouraging them to bring in a picture to share with their friends.
The children have been having a great time pretending to be vets in our role play area.
Current Contact Information
Can you please ensure that we hold your correct contact information including email address. If any of your details have changed please let Rosie know so we can update our records.
Healthy Early Years Snack
As part of our Healthy Early Years Programme we are committed to providing your child with a healthy balanced snack. We are asking all parents to provide one of the following for each day their child attends:
- A piece of fruit
- Vegetables (that can be eaten raw)
- Plain rice cakes
- Oat cakes
This will help us to provide a balanced snack for your child. Also can you please ensure that you only provide water in your child’s drinks bottle.
AGM and Cheese and Wine Evening
The date for the Preschool AGM and Cheese and Wine evening has been set for Wednesday 5th October. More details to follow shortly.
The Pre-school is a registered charity which is committee run. The committee must include parents or relatives who currently have children at the pre-school. We desperately need new committee members as there are several parents whose children have left pre-school this term
In particular we are looking for a Chairperson.
The AGM and cheese and wine evening is a chance for you to get to know the preschool, staff and other parents, so please come along and show your support.
Please see Rosie if you would like any further information.
We have started a lending library in preschool. There are a variety of books to choose from that can be found in a basket next to the front door. If you would like to borrow a book to read at home with your child then please ask a member of staff.
Tapestry Online Learning Journeys
We have changed our paper learning journeys for an online assessment tool. Your child’s Learning Journey contains observations we make and photos we take throughout the year, gradually building up a picture of your child’s learning. Having this Learning Journey online provides an excellent opportunity for us to share information about your child’s learning and achievements with you, and for you to share their achievements and interests at home with us.
We will be providing you with a link to access your child’s learning journey before the end of term. If you would like any more information please speak to a member of staff.
Parent’s First Aid Course
John the Training Man will be holding a parent’s first aid course on Wednesday 12th October.
More information to follow.
If you would like to order a preschool t-shirt please ask a member of staff for an order form.
